Miller quote

“But if writers begin to describe their childhood, as has been happening more and more frequently in the past decade, then they will be confronted with the hostility of society, which sees the customs and rights it has enjoyed for thousands of years threatened” (Thou Shalt Not Be Aware, page 230).

The previous post was about Freud (although several Unz commenters strayed from the topic due to their obsessions).

When one writes the facts of one’s life, what stands out most is that they bear no resemblance at all to the “psychoanalytic interpretations” of these charlatans, the disciples of the Vienna quack. But it is the clinical psychologists or the psychiatrists—more quacks—, not autobiographers like us, who hold professorships in academia.
